- Corporate Transparency Act Compliance: Federal disclosure requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act – U.S. companies and their beneficial owners are now exempt from BOI reporting requirements. This change is due to an interim final rule that narrows the definition of “reporting company” to include only foreign entities registered to do business in the U.S. FinCEN has extended filing deadlines for companies affected by specific hurricanes. - Landmark Supreme Court Ruling on Arbitration: The UK Supreme Court’s decision in UniCredit Bank GmbH v. RusChemAlliance LLC was recognized as the “Most Important Decision” of the year. The ruling clarifies the English courts’ jurisdiction to grant anti-suit injunctions to enforce foreign-seated arbitration agreements, enhancing London’s status as an arbitration-friendly jurisdiction. - Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCC) Comes into Force: From April 6, 2025, the DMCC Act introduced major consumer protection provisions, including bans on fake reviews and “drip pricing.” Businesses must adapt marketing and pricing practices to avoid enforcement by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). A three-month grace period will be followed by stricter enforcement.(Read more).
- Employment Law Updates: Effective April 6, 2025, the UK increased limits on employment tribunal awards (e.g., unfair dismissal compensation cap rises to £118,223), and from April 1, the National Living Wage for workers 21+ increases to £12.21. These changes affect employers across all sectors. These changes are part of the Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2025. (Read more).
- Capital Gains Tax Changes: From April 6, 2025, the Business Asset Disposal Relief rate for capital gains increased, impacting business owners planning asset sales. Lower rate rises to 18%, higher rate to 24%. (Read more).

- India: Deutsche Telekom v. India: On March 19, 2025, the US District Court granted India’s motion for an unconditional stay of enforcement pending appeal in Deutsche Telekom v. India, involving a BIT award. On March 27, last year, the US District Court for the District of Columbia dismissed India’s attempt to oppose enforcement of a USD 93 million BIT award won by Deutsche Telekom and confirmed the award in PCA Case No. 2014-10. Deutsche Telekom (“DT”), a minority indirect shareholder of Devas, launched an arbitration under the Germany – India BIT (“BIT”) in 2013. (Read more)
